PERI-MENOPAUSAL

Are you Peri-Menopausal?

BLOOD TESTS AVAILABLE WITH FOLLOW UP SUPPORT

PERI-MENOPAUSE

Perimenopause means "around menopause" and refers to the time during which your body makes the natural transition to menopause, marking the end of the reproductive years. Perimenopause is also called the menopausal transition.

Women start perimenopause at different ages. You may notice signs of progression toward menopause, such as menstrual irregularity, sometime in your 40s. But some women notice changes as early as their mid-30s.

The level of estrogen — the main female hormone — in your body rises and falls unevenly during perimenopause. Your menstrual cycles may lengthen or shorten, and you may begin having menstrual cycles in which your ovaries don't release an egg (ovulate). You may also experience menopause-like symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep problems and vaginal dryness. Treatments are available to help ease these symptoms.

Once you've gone through 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, you've officially reached menopause, and the perimenopause period is over.

Throughout the menopausal transition, some subtle — and some not-so-subtle — changes in your body may take place.

You might experience:

PERI-MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS

IRREGULAR PERIODS

As ovulation becomes more unpredictable, the length of time between periods may be longer or shorter, your flow may be light to heavy, and you may skip some periods. If you have a persistent change of seven days or more in the length of your menstrual cycle, you may be in early perimenopause. If you have a space of 60 days or more between periods, you're likely in late perimenopause

HOT FLUSHES & SLEEP PROBLEMS.

Hot flushes are common during perimenopause. The intensity, length and frequency vary. Sleep problems are often due to hot flashes or night sweats, but sometimes sleep becomes unpredictable even without them.

MOOD CHANGES.

Mood swings, irritability or increased risk of depression may happen during perimenopause. The cause of these symptoms may be sleep disruption associated with hot flashes. Mood changes may also be caused by factors not related to the hormonal changes of perimenopause.

VAGINAL & BLADDER PROBLEMS.

When estrogen levels diminish, your vaginal tissues may lose lubrication and elasticity, making intercourse painful. Low estrogen may also leave you more vulnerable to urinary or vaginal infections. Loss of tissue tone may contribute to urinary incontinence.

DECREASING FERTILITY.

As ovulation becomes irregular, your ability to conceive decreases. However, as long as you're having periods, pregnancy is still possible. If you wish to avoid pregnancy, use birth control until you've had no periods for 12 months.

CHANGES IN SEXUAL FUNCTION.

During perimenopause, sexual arousal and desire may change. But if you had satisfactory sexual intimacy before menopause, this will likely continue through perimenopause and beyond.

LOSS OF BONE.

With declining estrogen levels, you start to lose bone more quickly than you replace it, increasing your risk of osteoporosis — a disease that causes fragile bones.

CHANGING CHOLESTEROL LEVELS.

Declining estrogen levels may lead to unfavourable changes in your blood cholesterol levels, including an increase in low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol — the "bad" cholesterol — which contributes to an increased risk of heart disease. At the same time, high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol — the "good" cholesterol — decreases in many women as they age, which also increases the risk of heart disease.

HAIR THINNING/LOSS

HAIR THINNING/LOSS

Hormonal fluctuations during peri menopause. When estrogen and progesterone levels decline, hair growth slows and hair loss becomes more noticeable.

GROUNDBREAKING PERI-MENOPAUSAL BLOOD TEST

This ground-breaking female hormone test predicts how your four key female hormones fluctuate over your entire menstrual cycle rather than just a single day.

Using the latest techniques in artificial intelligence, we combine blood analysis with medical expertise and mathematical modelling, to give you unparalleled scientific insight into your personal hormone health, with support and advice from a Chief Medical Officer and leading endocrinology expert, Dr Nicky Keay.

By combining medical-grade laboratory blood analysis with clinical expertise and artificial intelligence, Female Hormone Mapping predicts how a woman’s four key hormones fluctuate throughout their entire cycle, which is entirely unique to you. It’s the next step in personalised female health intelligence.

(This test is for women who have a natural menstrual cycle and are not on hormonal contraception or HRT)

You’ll get explanation, commentary and advice from expert endocrinologist and myself on:

  • Your unique curves which show how each of your four key hormones are predicted to fluctuate throughout your personal menstrual cycle

  • Identification of any potential problem areas

  • Confirmation if ovulation has occurred

  • Ovarian response score indicating how well your hormone network is working

  • For women over forty, confirmation if they have entered the perimenopause

  • Increased understanding of the link between hormones fluctuations and your health & wellbeing

  • An evidence-based action plan to support your female hormone network

HOW IT WORKS:

1. Your test contains x 2 test kits.

Take test 1 on or near day 14 of your cycle.

Test 2 on or near day 21.

Both samples need to be taken during the same menstrual cycle.

2. When you take each test, we will log in to your dashboard and complete the questions relevant to each test. We must do this on the same day you take your test so we can correlate any symptoms with your blood test results in your final report.

3. Please note, you will not receive any results from your first test as we need both day 14 and day 21 to create your hormone curve.

Your results will be delivered after we have analysed your second test from day 21.

* If your day 14 or 21 falls on a Friday, we recommend you collect your sample the day before. If your day 14 or 21 falls over the weekend, we will collect your sample on the following Monday.

* I'm here with you every step of the way. All procedures can be followed in clinic or remotely.

BIOMARKERS INCLUDED:

  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
  • Luteinising Hormone (LH)
  • Oestradiol (Oestrogen)
  • Progesterone

FOLLICLE STIMULATING HORMONE (FSH)

Follicular - stimulating hormone (FSH) helps to regulate a woman's menstrual cycle by stimulating the production of oestrogen and progesterone. As a woman transitions towards menopause, FSH levels will start to increase.

LUTEINISING HORMONE (LH)

Luteinising hormone (LH) helps to regulate a woman's menstrual cycle by stimulating ovulation. High or low levels can lead to problems with fertility or irregular periods. As a woman transitions toward menopause, LH levels start to increase.

OESTRADIOL (OESTROGEN)

Oestradiol is the main form of (estrogen) in a woman's body. It plays a vital role in the reproductive system and the regulation of a woman's strength, heart health, metabolism and nerve health. Oestradiol levels start to fall as a woman enters perimenopausal causing a range of what can be debilitating symptoms.

PROGESTERONE

Progesterone plays an integral role in a woman's reproductive system and is produced by the ovaries following ovulation. As a woman transitions towards menopause, progesterone will start to decrease as the ovaries become less responsive.

The Forth Ovarian Response Metric (FORM) is a unique and innovative evaluation of the functioning of the hormone network.

This score takes into account all your hormone results rather than looking at any one in isolation.

A score above 75 suggests a healthy ovarian response.

Women over 40 can expect to see a decline in their ovarian response score as they enter the perimenopause and approach the menopause.

Any hormonal contraception or HRT will mask your natural hormone levels.

This product has been specifically designed for those who have naturally occurring cycles.

If you are using a copper coil you are able to take this test.
